There are toxic chemicals in just about everything, from food to personal hygiene products to cleaning products, and toxins are one of the two major causes of disease. Now more than ever it’s important to limit our exposure and rid our bodies of the toxic overload. A good place to start is with our food… staying away from processed food, reading food labels, eating as much organic as possible, growing our own food or visiting the local farmers market are just some examples of eating cleaner. Big red flags when reading food labels are words you CAN NOT pronounce and long ingredient lists.
DETOXING FOODS:
Cruciferous Vegetables and Leafy Greens
Lemon— (a good start to the day is drinking lemon water… squeeze a fresh organic lemon in water or can buy Italian Volcano- 100% Organic Lemon Juice to add daily to your water, can add a bit of stevia for sweetener.) Lemon Water is Great for Weight Loss!
Beets
Avocados
Green Tea
Ginger
Apples
Blueberries
Garlic
Cilantro
Chlorella
Turmeric (can be added into all kinds of foods)
Foods to avoid when detoxing:
Fish
Meat (should always avoid processed meats)
Dairy
Processed foods
Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs)
Good plan is to do a full detox bath once every month or 2 and then weekly or biweekly just an Epsom salt soak (magnesium is responsible for 300 bodily processes and most people are deficient in magnesium– one way to be assured you are getting this essential mineral is by soaking periodically in an Epsom salt bath. Or you can purchase and use Magnesium Oil… just rub it all over your body (warning: may get a stinging sensation, so I follow it with coconut oil to take the sting away).
FULL DETOX BATH:
Add to your bath water…
1 cup Epsom salt
1 cup Borax (20 mule team)
1 cup Baking soda
¼ cup Himalayan salt
a few drops of your favorite essential oil (optional) (my go to is lavender– no house should be without it, but I use a variety of essential oils in my diffusers)
Start with the bathwater quite warm/hot and soak until the water gets cool… at least 40 minutes or more!!!
*Can also just do an epsom salt bath with a little baking soda added!).
Don’t forget your feet… regularly soak in a foot bath with Epsom salts. (Great for pulling out toxins as well).
In the morning, wash your feet, then moisturize your feet and around your toenails with Coconut Oil and put on your socks and shoes… AND your feet and body will feel great ALL DAY!!!
Everything that goes on your skin goes in… Most skincare products and makeup are loaded with chemicals. Sunscreen should never be used as it’s full of chemicals and cancer causing itself. Hand sanitizer is full of chemicals and horrible to use, as well as antibacterial soaps are. I just cringe when I see hand sanitizer in every store since the “pandemic” hit or hear about schools telling all the school children to use hand sanitizer. We were meant to build up our immune system, thereby letting our bodies do the healing for us. All of these harsh dangerous chemicals that we are exposed to all the time interferes with the body's innate ability to heal and causes diseases.
I am a BIG believer in hand washing, I probably wash my hands much more than the average person, but plain old natural soap and water will do the trick. I mostly use homemade soaps that I buy at the farmers markets or my natural health store.
I have a rule that I only use stuff on my skin that I can eat. For example… coconut oil, vitamin E oil, castor oil, Aloe Vera gel, etc.
Get rid of your cleaning products they’re hazardous to your health as well as your families’. All commercial cleaning products are full of chemicals. I might sound like a broken record but I feel that most people do not realize the dangers of breathing in chemicals or using chemicals on your skin. To detox it’s important to get these toxins out of your home. I’m sure you’ve heard of people getting chemical burns well just cause the signs are not visible doesn’t mean that the toxic chemicals we’re exposed to aren’t doing great damage on the inside.
White distilled vinegar cleans and disinfects better than bleach. Hydrogen peroxide oxygenates, you can squirt it on a floor or in cracks and it will bubble out the dirt or pet messes. Baking soda deodorizes and cleans.
I ONLY use vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and a small amount of dawn dish soap for all my cleaning needs. They’re safe for kids and pets. In my mop bucket I fill it with water and pour in some vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and a small drop of dawn. In every wash load of laundry along with a small amount of natural or homemade detergent I put in ¼ to ½ cup of vinegar… it cleans, disinfects, neutralizes detergent and urine & prevents static clean. In my dryer I only use the dryer balls instead of dryer sheets which again are full of chemicals.
I use a spray bottle with water and vinegar in it to clean windows and to clean up pet messes. In my carpet shampooer I also add vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and a drop of dawn dish soap to the water instead of the commercial products. Again non toxic and safe for kids & pets, never need to worry about your babies crawling around on the floors.
By using all natural products when cleaning your home the air quality will be free of toxins, also Himalayan salt lamps, home air purifiers, or essential oil diffusers are great for purification.
Also NOTE… Should never use paraffin candles as they are toxic. Use natural candles made of beeswax or diffuse 100% pure essential oils to keep your home smelling good and pure!
